Shami Kabab Recipe – It is a popular and delectable South Asian dish known for its exquisite taste and aromatic flavors. Shami Kababs are traditionally made from chicken, typically lamb or beef, combined with chana dal (split chickpeas), aromatic spices, herbs, and occasionally eggs to bind the mixture. The key to their unique taste lies in the careful selection of spices and the cooking technique, which involves boiling the meat and lentils until tender before forming them into patties and shallow-frying.

Shami Kababs are undeniably savory and packed with the umami goodness of well-cooked meat and lentils. The combination of minced meat and chana dal creates a perfect balance, enhancing the overall taste. Fresh herbs like coriander leaves are added to the mixture, imparting a refreshing and herbaceous note that complements the meaty taste. The kababs are infused with a delightful blend of aromatic spices like cumin, coriander, cloves, cardamom, and cinnamon. The fragrance alone is enough

FAQs:(Frequently Asked Questions)

Can I use beef or lamb instead of chicken?

Yes, you can substitute chicken with beef or lamb according to your preference. Adjust cooking times accordingly to ensure thorough cooking.

Can I skip the refrigeration step before frying?

Chilling the shaped kebabs before frying helps them retain their shape and prevents them from falling apart during cooking. However, if you’re short on time, you can proceed directly to frying, but handle the kebabs gently.

Can I bake the kebabs instead of frying them?

While traditionally fried, you can bake Shami Kebabs in the oven for a healthier alternative. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and place the shaped kebabs on a greased baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through, flipping halfway through for even cooking.
